San Miguel de Allende « Read Less
San Miguel is part of the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. The town was founded in 1542 by the Franciscan monk Fray Juan de San Miguel and featured prominently in the Mexican War of Independence. General Ignacio Allende, one of San Miguel's native sons, was a leading player in the war against Spain for independence. Allende, captured in battle and beheaded, is a national hero. San Miguel el Grande renamed itself "San Miguel de Allende" in 1826 in honor of his actions.
It is not without it's controversy for featuring the running of the bulls but after stopping this "tradition" and restoring some of it's beatiful colonial streets and architecture it was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Anywhere you turn to in San Miguel you can find the perfect picture, this has made it hard to choose pics but I hope you see them all and most of all, like them.
